Shani Amavasya

Shani Amavasya

On every ‘Shani Amavasya’, each and every body should perform ‘Shrad’ that is paying homage to his ‘manes’. Such a performance gives him success during the times to come, the main reason to it is that by the grace of Lord Shani, our deified ancestors are very easily pleased and one is deprived of the anguish of any aliens. However, through the astrological analysis of the birth horoscope, it becomes clear to a native that disposition of Shani or the other planets are the causing factor of different difficulties due to ‘Pitra Dosh’ or ‘Kaal Sarp Dosh’ One must perform special rituals to pacify (to negate the effects of) Lord Shani on the auspicious day of ‘Shani Amavasya’.

In our classical books, they have given equal importance to godly affairs and the affairs related to the ‘manes’. It’s a pity that some of us consider the rituals relating to our ‘manes’ to be an inauspicious ones, but this tendency is not right. One should remain ever conscious to please his ‘manes’, because one gains worldly comfort and prosperity as well as good health by the blessings of his ‘manes’ only. As we are aware of the fact that a sound mind in a healthy body and the comfortable environment and circumstances altogether make some work to be fruitful. Therefore, under such healthy environment, he can also perform such rituals that may help him to do undo the misdeeds of his pre-births. It can also add joys to him and help him in getting released of the bonds of life and death. This is the reason, why at the time of the birth, at the time of starting the education and at the time of marriage, there is a provision of praying to our ‘manes’ and also performance of ‘Naandi Mukh Shrad’, is prevailing, since time immortal.
