Sensex down 246pts; SBI, ICICI Bank drop 4%

Sensex down 246pts; SBI, ICICI Bank drop 4%

The Sensex is now down 246 points at 13,749.

Ranbaxy has slumped 10.5% to Rs 311. DLF has plunged 5.7% to Rs 397, and Jaiprakash Associates have tumbled 5% to Rs 124.

Wipro, SBI, Satyam and ICICI Bank have plunged around 4% each to Rs 397, Rs 1,503, Rs 339 and Rs 611, respectively.

HDFC, Bharti Airtel, TCS and Tata Motors have dropped around 3% each to Rs 2,254, Rs 785, Rs 745 and Rs 404, respectively.

Infosys has shed 2.5% at Rs 1,587. Tata Steel, Maruti and BHEL are down around 2% each at Rs 482, Rs 704 and Rs 1,650,

respectively.

Tata Power has advanced 1.5% to Rs 1,036.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,504 stocks traded so far, 1,672 have declined, 768 have advanced and 64 are

unchanged.
