Britney Spears: Hard at Work on New Album

It seems that Britney Spears’ summer is going to be filled with more than rest and relaxation… as her manager, Larry Rudolph, made a big career announcement on Tuesday - telling that the “Gimme More” pop star is hard at work on her yet-to-be-titled new album.

“Britney Spears is spending her summer in the recording studio, working on a brand new album,” Rudolph announced in a statement released by Jive Records. “She’s working with a team of top-notch producers and songwriters, and we’re very excited about what she’s accomplished so far. No album release date has been confirmed yet.”

There were many rumors during the spring that Spears might be working on a new album because she had been spending time in the studio. But at the time, Rudolph insisted that it was “recreational.” But Rudolph said there was a reason behind the playtime, telling: “She’s the type of person who has the eye of the tiger.”

“She’s like, ‘I want to go to the studio because I want to have some fun’ and that’s what it’s all about. There’s no schedule, there’s no agenda, there’s no anything. She is just enjoying herself. She’ll likely wake up one day and decide she wants to do more than that. Whether that is a day from now, a month from now or a year from now or five years from now, I have no idea,” he added.

After spending a difficult year in the spotlight with two very well publicized trips to the hospital and an ongoing custody battle with her ex husband Kevin Federline, Rudolph said that Spears is feeling strong and back to her old self again. Last week, Brit filmed a video segment in Hollywood that’s expected to be part of Madonna’s upcoming Sticky & Sweet tour.

“She’s got people around her that really care about her and are there to point her in the right direction in respect to the things she should be concentrating on – her life. Britney is getting back in touch with Britney,” Rudolph said. “And she’s doing an amazing job at that.”
