BIG TV emerges as fastest growing DTH player in South

BIG TV emerges as fastest growing DTH player in South

Mumbai: DTH service BIG TV has touched the 500,000 subscriber mark in the four Southern states within five months of its launch, making it the fastest growing DTH player in the country.

In August, 2008, BIG TV had crossed the one million-subscriber milestone within 100 days of launch.

"It's heartening to note that we're scoring impressively in the South, which has diverse content needs. Reaching the magic figure of five-lakh customer milestone in the four Southern States was a great New Year gift to us. It is indeed a testimony
to the superior product and the best proposition offered by BIG TV and its success in accelerating the growth momentum of DTH sector in India," said Reliance Communications president Mahesh Prasad.

According to him, this has been made possible by BIG TV's proposition, which saw that Southern viewers got their regional bouquet of channels along with popular channels all bundled with a competitive price offering and superior TV viewing
experience.

Another plus point for BIG TV has been that it is the only one to score high on an all-inclusive channel bouquet, for a cross section of populace from different regions, while other DTH operators focused on stiff packaging in South.

Among the Southern States, Karnataka with Bangalore topped the list by crossing 150,000-mark customer's base on 1 January, 2009. This was achieved with a strong DTH sales network of over 3500 retailers across Karnataka.

Prasad added, "Besides, BIG TV DTH offers superior product proposition & service quality based on the world's latest MPEG4 Technology platform which offers fully Digital Picture and Sound. Our superior content across the 200-channel bouquet helps
us service multiple needs of all customer segments. Our plans of defining the future of TV viewing in India are on desired course."

Kate Winslet Graces the Cover of Feburary 2009 InStyle

Kate Winslet Graces the Cover of Feburary 2009 InStyle

Kate Winslet the big Golden Globe winner (Best Actress for Revolutionary Road and Best Supporting Actress for The Reader) graces the February cover of InStyle magazine.

Why we love Katie: In response to not wanting plastic surgery she said, "I’m a normal human being. I don’t have any desire to change my body as a result of having had two kids. That’s a good thing, isn’t it?"

Why the Katie Crush continues: In response to how Hollywood has changed these past few years she said, "There is so much access to celebrity that it’s become harder to hold on to any mystery as an actress. The audience can have a fixed idea of you in their head."

Why we would bestow the Real Woman Award on Kate Winslet: On not wanting to be referred to as a movie star she said, "I don’t feel like [one] in my life at all, and I don’t particularly think I behave like one. I don’t have my own plane. I don’t have a chef of a trainer. To me, you’re a movie star only during the time when you’re at the Academy Awards or at an important glamorous event. It’s very much a hat that you wear, and as soon as the event’s over, that hat comes off. I’m back to being me and being Mommy, and that’s my priority."

Yes, we have a woman crush.
